Rwandan swimmers attend 16th African Swimming Championships

Eight Rwandan swimmers have attended 16th Absolute African Swimming and Open Water Championships to take place in Angola on April 30.

The team left on Monday, April 29 to Luanda, Angola for the continental swimming competition which will serve as qualifier for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

The competition will take place from April 30 to May 5 at the Alvalade swimming pool and Mussulo Island.

The team left after five days of trainings at La Palisse Hotel Swimming Pool in Nyamata.

Team members include six men and two women.

The members are Cédrick NIYIBIZI (Thailand), Oscar Mitilla Peyre CYUSA (France), Eric IRADUKUNDA, Neema NYIRABYENDA and Christian BYIRINGIRO (all Cercle Sportif de Karongi), Mako Sharks duo Isihaka IRANKUNDA and Aragsan Liban MUGABO and Lidwine Uwase UMUHOZA (Gisenyi Beach Boys).

Head coach of the team is Jean d’Amour KAMANZI.
