Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel has spoken of how he has lost the use of his right eye after the attack last two weeks.
The Assyrian bishop was allegedly stabbed by the 16-year-old boy in western Sydney.
Bishop Emmanuel has come back to preach on evening mass on Sunday at the Assyrian Christ the Good Shepherd church in Wakeley wearing an eyepatch.
While preaching, the 52-year-old bishop said that he viewed his eye injury as sacrifice and a gesture of love towards Muslims.
“I ask the Lord Jesus Christ to accept this eye as a token of love and sacrifice,” Bishop Emmanuel said in Arabic.
Bishop Emmanuel also expressed forgiveness to the young boy who stabbed him.
During the attack, there is also a priest, Father Isaac Royel who was also hospitalised.
Father Royel also returned to the church on Sunday for early morning mass.
