Rwandan politician Twagiramungu Faustin, the former Prime Minister, passed away at 78 years old on December 2, 2023.
Born on August 14, 1945, he rose to prominence in 1991 during the multi-party era, eventually becoming Prime Minister in 1994 after the Genocide against the Tutsis.
However, he resigned in 1995, later fleeing to Belgium. In 2003, he returned to Rwanda as an independent candidate but was defeated by President Kagame.
Twagiramungu, known for his opposition to the government, founded RDI-Rwanda Nziza.
